Day 14 Chicken Soup for the Soul

Day 14 of the 30 day art challenge. Why a Chicken? I wanted to know that too. I just started drawing a chicken. My best guess is that as I spoke with my sister the other day and she was feeding her chickens, I could hear them squawking and clucking in the background. They have been in my head since then. I looked up what a chicken might mean, and this is what I found: “When the chicken spirit animal struts in your life, it’s time to celebrate your individuality and uniqueness.” HA!

Day 13 Sharks!

Day 13 Sharks

Well, this is day 13 of the 30 day art challenge.  I wound up surfing the net and found Shark Team One, a global shark conservation and marine ecosystem protection site.  They do expeditions to educate and inspire people with the proceeds going to local economies and to fund research designed to protect endangered species.  The site features videos of underwater footage of divers swimming with Tiger Sharks and Hammerheads.  Shark Team One is based in Florida.

After viewing the site, I felt inspired to bring some sharks into my life.

Day 12 Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Today my inspiration came from a walk with a good friend on the beach as the sun was setting, marking the Winter Solstice.  It was cold out and we were bundled up, but we stopped to witness the beauty of the sun going down.  The waves were calm, and the breeze was still. The sun slipped behind the island. We were struck that today is December 21st and it is the Winter Solstice.  As we left we remarked that it is six more months till Summer!

My artwork:

As I look at my solstice sun, I see that the rays are circling it instead of radiating from it, sort of like a Solstice Cloak.  That makes me smile as it feels like I can put on a bright sunny cloak on those dark cloudy days and be reminded that Summer is coming!

Here is a video that explains what the Winter Solstice is.

Day 11 Choices

Well, I have to say, I am a bit perplexed by this art piece and the intention I had: Enjoying Choices! When I first picked up the paint brush a yin/yang design had come to mind but when I drew a circle, I just kept painting more black circles.  The circles look like tunnels of many choices and each one has a struggle associated with it.  Which one do I choose?  I guess it does not matter since they are all the same.  Is Karma and destiny pre-determined?  Interestingly,  there is gold glitter paint behind all the black and grey, this implies, to me that even though there is struggle now, it does not matter because whatever tunnel is selected there is glittering gold… I am sad the glitter does not show up in the photo of the piece, but it is there!

Day 11 Freedom of Choice

Day 10: Getting Ready for 2018

I thought I was finished releasing “stuff” for the moment but that is not the case.  My intention today was to discover what else I could put out there into the universe. What came up was my own excitement about 2018.  It is not that I want to release anything, it is more that I am itching to move forward.  When I did the artwork, it took off in an upward fire towards the sky!  I had done an online Tarot card reading for fun and the predictions for the coming year were full of ‘clean out your karma now, cause 2018 will hit fast and hard!’ Here is my artwork with this in mind today. I cannot believe it is 12 days till the New Year! Make it count.

Day 9: Releasing Energy

Intention today was the need to release shared energies which are not mine to hold.  We all encounter energies that belong to others.  And if you have empathy you might inadvertently “take on” these energies.  But an emotional release can help to cleanse your own spirit, giving you back your baseline.  This is what I was thinking about today.

Day 9 Foam bubbles bursting

My artwork today is a release of shared emotions into the universe. My picture comes from my awareness of the need to let go of feelings and emotions that are not mine to hold.  I was sitting at the beach in my car watching the waves crash onto the shore and knew that I wanted to release these delicate treasures here. So I did.  You can see the white bubbles in my picture that looks like pollen exploding. Emotional Release! So all the white sea foam water bubbles danced out into the vast ocean and into the universe.

Day 8: Group Art as Therapy

Group art therapy today.  Today’s workshop was filled with tons of art. Some of us have not touched a paintbrush since were were children, but that did not stop the group from doing a little art as therapy.  Our inner child was present as we played in creativity.

My piece was about all of us being together in a snow globe world. With everyone’s energy in the mix the swirling snow fell all around us as we created our art in a non-judgmental environment.

Day 7: Art found in the Kitchen

Art can be found in the kitchen. As I looked for inspiration today I was hungry, so I headed to the kitchen and thought some celery sticks would be perfect.  A delightful crunchy break from the Holiday Carbohydrate options.  And as I cut the stalks, I remembered that you can use the stalks for a pattern! So today’s inspiration comes from the kitchen.  And if you need instruction here is a You Tube video to help.

Day 7 Celery Roses

Day 6: Glass bubbles and berries?

Intention: I decided to be inspired by green glass bubbles, winter birds and berries

Day 6 Winter birds and berries

Enjoyed a bit of inspiration today. This is a one dimensional small 5″x 7″ piece of paper that I used a small quarter sized spongy paint brush that I dipped in the paint and made the green bubble glass shapes then I used the crimson paint with water and the small spongy brush again and blobbed the berries. A fine paint brush with pure white made highlights and dark brown “twigs” were brushed on as well. There you have it.

Day 5: Outside the Box #2

Today’s intention was: I delve deeper ‘on’ the box.

Day 5 Outside box #2

Journal: Clearly I had fun with this concept of the cereal box of art. Love that I wound up with words on the back, where all the ingredients are usually listed.  I did not plan this, it just happened.  All was pasted on the back of the same cereal box in Day 4’s submission.
